Best Scientific Contribution Award

Judith Bernett has been awarded the Best Scientific Contribution Award by the German Association for AI in Medicine (KIMED) at the BAIOSPHERE Medical 2026 conference in Erlangen for her publication Critical evaluation of drug response prediction models with DrEval.

We had a strong presence at this year’s BAIOSPHERE Medical conference, where around 200 researchers and clinicians gathered to discuss the latest advances in AI for healthcare, with a particular focus on medical imaging. Prof. David Blumenthal contributed to a panel discussion on the future of AI in medicine. Beyond that, the group was well represented across talks and posters: Judith Bernett presented her award-winning work, and Dominik Pysch gave a talk on the Prediction of Vascular Territories From Centerlines for Planning of Embolization Locations. On the poster side, Farnaz Rahimi presented FLabBench: A Large-Scale Benchmark Evaluating the Impact of Cohort Characteristics on Predictive Model Performance Across Over 4,000 Clinical Cohorts, Fabian Woller showcased SignifiKANTE: Efficient P-value computation for gene regulatory networks, and Paul Martini presented SwitchTFI: identifying transcription factors driving cell differentiation.
